Hyderabad-The City of Pearl

It's so much fun to explore the history of your country. Hyderabad is one such city where I can visit monumental as well as architectural places, which makes me wonder about the rich culture of our Indian history.

Before exploring things to do in Hyderabad, let's know a bit history of this city. Hyderabad was established by Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah in 1591. Hyderabad was pearl and diamond trading centre, so named as 'CITY OF PEARLS'.

The city is famous for its rich, aromatic biryani made with lamb, chicken or vegetables and served with basmati rice. Another thing to enjoy is Double-ka-meetha - a bread pudding.

Golconda Fort

Its detailed and mesmerizing architecture that showcases the brilliance of the past is truly a sight to behold! A visit to Golconda Fort will surely serve your purpose of getting acquainted with Hyderabad’s glorious past! There is a nice walk up to the fort and you can enjoy the view of the city from the top of the fort.
Accounting the walk, you can skip a hot day to visit the fort. A pleasant weather adds up to the beauty of the place.

Qutb Shahi Tombs

Next, that can be planned, is to visit the stunning Qutb Shahi Toms in the Ibrahim Bagh, located within a close proximity to the Golconda Fort, these are the tombs to commemorate the seven Qutub Shahi rulers who ruled over this region.

These historical sites have been the main attraction for the tourists and a visit to them is considered as one of the must Hyderabad things to do.

Charminar

Two things, without which Hyderabad won’t be Hyderabad: dum biryani and the Charminar! Known globally as the most important landmark of the city, a visit to this historical monument is indeed among the must to have experiences in Hyderabad!

Go shopping, taste some of the delicious Hyderabadi dishes and add an extra flavour to your trip! But Where to shop? It is Laad Baazar. Please scroll below to the find out more.
The time to visit this landmark is 24X7. You can enjoy shopping feast with night shopping during Ramzan but that would not be the best time to visit this place due to the heavy crowd. Be it any day or any night, you must try Irani Chai, Paan and Kababs there. Are you a vegetarian: you can try Anand Bhavan. There are a few restaurant/cafe chains as well (e.g.: CCD).

Makkah Masjid

Mecca Masjid is the biggest and the most spectacular mosque of Hyderabad. It is also one of the largest mosques in India and is listed as a heritage building.

During Ramzan, you can see the people in and out of the mosque offering namaz.

Ramoji Film City

The world’s largest integrated film city and India's only thematic holiday destination with the magic of cinema. It was set up by Ramoji Group in 1996. It is certified by the Guinness World Records as the world’s largest Filmstudio complex.

Live your own Bollywood dreams at the Ramoji Film City, where you can indulge in a number of activities ranging from film city tours to adventure sports, toy train rides to a number of gardens. One needs to do a lot of walking here and hence the best time to visit this place is during pleasant weather.

Laad Bazaar

Just adjacent to the popular Charminar, lies this famous and historic market known for its shopping articles. Laad Bazaar is said to be the oldest market in Hyderabad. It is also known as 'Choodi Bazaar'. A hub for wedding shopping, silver, precious stones and pearls, are sold in this market along with the many other items and jewels.

Laad Bazaar is a must-visit site to satisfy your shopping dreams but one should not forget to use the negotiation skills.

The itinerary I would recommend:

First Day:

  • First visit to Qutb Shahi Tombs(since the place will close by the evening), then go to Golconda Fort and enjoy the light show in the evening.
Second Day:

  • First visit Salarjung Museum, you will require a whole day there and then in evening visit Charminar followed by shopping in Laad Bazaar.

Third Day:

  • Start early for Ramoji Film City and try to reach there by 9 A.M. to attend the opening ceremony. It will take a whole day.
Fourth Day:

  •  Start your day with chilling Snow World and then visit Birla Mandir followed by Lumbini Park.

I will keep sharing more from my travel experience around the world. Keep wandering.
